What is spot treatment?
Spot treatment is directed laser or light therapy that only targets a specific lesion or troublesome area you want to remove. Spot treatment saves you time and money because you don’t have to get your entire face treated.
How do you spot treat pimples?
Old-school thinking on spot treatment for acne was simply not to do it. Acne lesions can appear anywhere on the face, so doctors advised applying prescription medication on all of the facial skin.
But what if you have one nasty pimple that always pops up before a key business meeting or date? Spot treating it yourself with prescription or OTC meds takes too long. And if you opt for a quick treatment (such as popping it), you may permanently damage your skin and make the lesion look even worse.
Instead, the Body Sculpt experts direct the energy of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) onto your lesion to zap it away. IPL blasts pimples using three different strategies:
- Kills the bacterium (propionibacterium acnes) that causes acne
- Shrinks the oil gland in your skin
- Targets the red pigment that attracts attention
The end result is skin that’s zit free in minutes. You’re back to your normal routine immediately, with no downtime or tell-tale red face.
How do you spot treat age spots?
The Icon IPL system includes a patented Skintel® Melanin Reader™ that measures the amount of excess pigment in your brown spot, age spot, or liver spot. Your Body Sculpt expert uses the Skintel readings to adjust the settings of the IPL and then targets therapy just to those spots.
You may need from three to six IPL treatments to completely clear your lesion. Your certified laser aesthetician recommends follow-up treatments every six months or so to prevent recurrence.
How do you spot treat rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic condition that manifests as red skin, patches, lesions, or broken red veins. The Icon IPL can be targeted just to eliminate spider veins, rough patches, or rosacea pimples. Directly after your treatment, you see a diminishment of red veins and an improvement in your complexion. You may need from three to six spot treatments to keep your skin looking clear.
